Mellowhype: BLACKENEDWHITE MIXTAPE

I have been waiting for real, unique hip-hop like this to come out. I like diversity, creativity, and inconsistency. Mellowhype, part of the OFWGKTA collective from Los Angeles, CA, does just that on their second album, BLACKENEDWHITE MIXTAPE. Finally, a group that you can tell are real people just like us. The beats, made by Left Brain, consist of unexpected switch-ups, slow-downs and tone changes; fresh, on point and banging percussion, and all the appropriate backup sounds needed to make a great track whether it be chill or more hardcore "rap" like. On the mic is Hodgy Beats, a clever lyricist who talks about all the right things such as yayo, xanies, smoking on hay sacks, sitting on haystacks, stacking dollars to the ceiling, drinking, FUCK THE POLICE, swag, kush nuggets the size of tarantulas, bloody noses full of snot, hoes, precipitation, condensation, and other awesome things.
The album has a wide range different moods, perfect for you happy, depressed, angry, bipolar people, or more regular, open minded people. There are happy songs, dark/spooky songs, good to sit back on the couch and light a L to type songs, and other indescribable moods/sounds in this album. Intended Audience for this album: Hip-hop fans/artists, pot smokers & drug doers of all kinds, "appreciators" of real instruments and different musical influences, drummers, fans of underground music, people with a good humor, people that enjoy randomness, real niggaz.

Favorite songs off album: Gun Sounds (banging), Brain, Loaded (tight), Hell (great beat, great song), Loco (chill/dark), Strip Club, Fuck the Police, Circus (happy), Right here (chill/light a J), Based (banging).

Busta going H.A.M.

The beginning of this song busts open with Busta Rhymes doing what he does best, busting some wicked fast and ridiculously crystal clear rhymes.

Five stars for Busta.
Kanye...kills the song, in a bad way. And Jay-Z was ok. Might I add that the chorus also sucks.
Basically, the only worthwhile part of this song is in the first minute and 8 seconds. So here is the first minute and 8 seconds.

Wick-It real good

What do you get when you take Big Boi and the Black Keys and smash them together? The result is Wick-it-the-Instigator, a mash-up of the Black Keys music and Big Boi's raps off of his newest hit album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty. This is a great album that really works together quite magically, and I suggest you download it below. A little extra music can't hurt.

Revolution 909

Here's one of my all time faves from Daft Punk off their first album Homework, a classic that all house lovers should have. The video is amazing, and in my opinion goes along perfectly with the song. The 90's feel alone makes it worth watching. My point is, I don't know how to explain why I think this video is so unique, but I really like it, and I think you should watch it. Hope you see it the way I do.

FILTH: Devnik

Wow. This shit is so filthy, it makes me actually want to eat uncooked broccoli and brussel sprouts while shaving the hairy ass of a silverback, after which I would then play the drums for his puking gorilla cousin... I just came across "Bumpy Ride" by Devnik & Dux, and I'm, I'm speechless. This dude is the next Datsik. Check it out if you dare.

Ghetto Hau5! Juke Juke

I would like to give a massive shot out to all the rude, degrading, ghetto ass DJ's who started a music scene that little did they know would blow up worldwide and be transformed over the years into many different styles of Electronic music. I think it is safe to say, without this hip-hop/electronic genre which encourages young men to bust nuts in women's eyes and young women to make their big fat juicy bootys clap, there would be no house, no electro, and (drumroll) no dubstep. These dj's influenced some of the greatest dj's around today, Daft Punk, to name one of the biggest, if not the biggest. Also, I would like to give a shot out to Chicago, my home, and the home of House (lol home of house). Also, you can't forget about Detroit and Miami. Soo-Woo! Bounce dat ass.

The Real Slim Shady

I remember the first Eminem album I ever bought, aka the first album I ever fell in love with. I was about 8 or 9, and my dad took me to the store on State and Division to buy the Marshall Mathers LP. Just looking at the front cover of it takes me back in to almost what seems like a different world, a world and a time that I miss very dearly. Anyways, to make a long story semi-short, Eminem was the first artists that I, I guess, became obsessed with (in a non homosexual kind of way, not that that's a problem or anything). He was, whether you like to admit it or not (and if you don't I will shank you), one of the best lyricists of his time, and that ever lived. Eminem, I am sad to say, is dead. The white tee wearing, bleach yellow haired, pissed off, Valium, Vicodin, Ambien (and other drugs) addicted, alcohol guzzling, pistol whipping, bitch smacking, "I just don't give a fuck" Eminem, the REAL Eminem, is no longer with us, which makes me ask ....WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED? Since he's dead in a sense, all we can do is remember the old, because the new Eminem is quite franky, SHIT.
Here's a couple old Eminem songs that you either probably haven't heard or that you should listen to.

Crizzly

Thought I might maximize the size of the picture for the sake of better promotion. I think it did the trick. I just came across Crizzly and I am liking what I'm hearing. From Dutch House, Electro, to Dubstep, Crizzly kills it with his phat ass bass. Check out the Soundcloud, or simply click the tracks below, since I posted basically all the songs that were on there...

Definitely listen to Lost Woods, a Zelda themed dubstep song originally produced by Japanese video game composer/sound director Koji Kondo. Crizzly absolutely kills this one. Click here to download.

Vic Mensa

Meet Vic Mensa. A 17 year old Chicago native that is doing what he can to keep hip-hop alive and breathing. It's funny how artists with no talent, such as Souljah Boy, make it big when they are polluting what little remains of hip-hop. People have forgotten what hip-hop is, but luckily, there is a generation of young underground rappers trying to revive it. What we need is more artists like Vic Mensa: artists with passion and potential that are much more talented and real than the fake artists you are brainwashed by on MTV. Bottom line is, we need more good rappers that make good music (with meaningfull lyrics) for the love of it, not the money. Souljah Boy may get money from his stupid dances, but he's got no love for the music (or the dance). What I want, is to see talented rappers out there working hard, doing what they love and earning fame through it, such as Vic Mensa.

Chicago stand the fuck up.

Morning Reggae Dub

Ahhhh. Sunday morning/afternoon. Inside the warmth of my apartment, by a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and a blueberry scone. Waking up to the enchanting sounds of the rasta dub. Heres a couple reggae influenced dubstep tracks. Happy skanking.
